I’m a 29 year old, tea loving, horse riding first time mama to my little lady Clara Ivy. I grew up in a small country town in rural NSW where the majority of my childhood was spent outside, making my own fun.
I have fond memories of playing outside with my sister and our various animals, exploring the opal fields with my parents, riding on my pops motorbike to look for sheep bones and riding friends horses (I never did convince my parents to get me a horse of my own!).
Although I didn’t see it at the time, I was incredibly lucky to have the upbringing I did. So when my daughter Clara was born I immediately knew I wanted her to grow up and be able to look back just as fondly at memories we created for her.
But, I wanted to be purposeful about my approach to parenting. I knew I couldn’t just ‘wing it’. I wanted to be clear about our families values and to know what I lessons I wanted to teach my little girl, so I created a family values masterlist as a way to guide us on this crazy journey of raising our own tiny human.
Through the blog I share how we are taking our family values, threading them through our experiences and adventures with Clara and learning as we go. My goal is to help other parents who are raising their own country kids figure out how they can do the same too.
